WALKS ON THE WILD SIDE

DOG WALKS WITH A DIFFERENCE
Wish your dog could get out more often into natural surroundings – woodlands, meadows and marshes? Not just on weekends?
I did too. Which is why I set up Wildsiders.
I'm Danny, a Stoke Newington local who loves dogs and getting out into nature. I'm here to give Hackney dogs more opportunities to just "be dogs" with fewer urban distractions.
WHAT I DO

I offer dog-walking – with pick-up & drop off in N16 and surrounding areas.  I'm trained in canine First aid, fully insured, and DBS-checked, and I fit dogs with trackers for the sessions.

I head to varied destinations ranging from Epping Forest to Highgate and Queen’s Woods, Hampstead Heath to Tottenham Marshes, Trent Park and more.

WHAT WE DO

THE WILDSIDERS EXPERIENCE

I offer two daily sessions – a wild walk in the morning (8/9:30am-12:30/1:30pm) and an urban nature walk in the afternoon (12:30/1:30pm-3/4pm).

Need care for the whole day? I can do that too. Can’t find what you need? Give me a call and I’d be happy to discuss.

WHAT A SESSION LOOKS LIKE

I collect your dog in my comfortable vehicle, transport them safely to a destination and give them plenty of time to exercise, explore, play and relax. Dogs are allowed off-lead as and when it is appropriate to do so, and after good recall and trust have been established.

Water is always readily available. In warm weather, I’ll pack cooling vests and seek out sheltered paddling spots. In cold rainy weather, please make sure your dog has a coat if they need one.

At the end of the session, I’ll deliver your dog back to you, cleaned up, towelled down, and ready to relax at home.

FAQs

FAQs
  • What areas do you cover?
We cover Stoke Newington (N16) and surrounding neighbourhoods, including some parts of N5, N4, E5, E8 and N1.
  • How many dogs do you take out with you?
I'll never have more than 6 dogs.
  • Is there a weekly commitment or can I book ad-hoc sessions?
Consistency is good for your dogs, but owners sometimes need flexibility too. We do our best to offer both: 1) We ask all clients to book at least one recurring session with us per week (you can cancel your arrangement with 2 weeks' notice). This helps ensure our core groups for each session are predictable for your dog, and so a more enjoyable experience for everyone. 2) Existing clients can book ad-hoc sessions, depending on availability.
  • What are the requirements for the dogs you take on?
All dogs must be vaccinated, good with dogs and people, and happy to travel in a vehicle. If your dog doesn't have good recall or is a strong puller on the lead, Wildsiders might not be right for them, but I'm happy to assess this during the settling-in period. I'll always start with dogs on leads and longlines until trust and recall is established. I can't take any puppies under 6 months, or very reactive or fearful dogs. I do not work with dogs that have attacked or injured a person or another dog.
  • What's the settling-in period?
I believe a well-structured settling in period lays the best foundation for the Wildsiders experience. I like to meet you and your dog on your doorstep. This will ensure that your dog meets me in a confortable setting where they are happy and relaxed. You can ask me any questions you might have about the service, and your dog can give me a good sniff and check me out. This is free of charge. Everyone happy? Your dog joins us for their first Wildsiders session, free of charge. I'll pay close attention to how they are with us, the other dogs, and in the vehicle. After the first session, I'll continue to monitor closely for the following three sessions, or until I'm ensuring that your dog is relaxed and enjoys their time.
  • What safety measurements & policies do you have in place?
I am trained in canine First aid, DBS-checked, insured for dog-walking and transport, and insured to hold keys. The van is safe and well ventilated, and we use secure, comfortable crates and harnesses to make sure dogs have their own private spaces during transport. I use trackers for dogs that has any potential to run off, and work with them on longlines until good recall is established.
  • What's your off-lead policy?
We like all our dogs to be off-lead, but will work with them on a lead and longline until trust and recall is established. Each of our dogs is also fitted with a tracker. However if good recall can't be established or your dog has a tendency to wander far away, we may not be able to work with them, as we need to make sure we can be present for all the dogs in our care. We will let you know during the settling-in period if we have any concerns on this front.
  • Are the walks too long for my dog?
I like to allow plenty of time so that the dogs' experience isn't rushed, but that doesn't mean the dogs are on the go the whole time. I mix up and pace sessions to include exploration, play, enrichment, stimulating activities and plenty of breaks. The rest sections are really important, allowing dogs to regulate and encouraging settling skills. However, if your dog struggles on longer walks, Wildsiders may not be the right fit for them.
  • What happens during extreme weather?
During particularly hot, cold, or otherwise extreme weather, I may have to shift timings and locations of sessions. There may be times I need to cut a walk short, or even cancel in order to keep your dog safe. If this is the case, I'll give as much notice as possible so you can make alternative arrangements.
  • What happens if my dog gets injured or is unwell?
If your dog gets injured or is unwell, we'll treat them with First aid and contact you. We will then arrange for you to collect them, or we can drop them off to you or their vet as agreed.
  • How do I make payment?
I'll invoice you each month for payment by bank transfer.
  • Do you offer boarding?
Not at the moment, although I hope to be able to offer this for a limited number of dogs in the near future. If this is something you're interested in, let me know.
